The Tenancy Deposit Protection Scheme

Ensuring good practice in tenancy deposit handling

The Tenancy Deposit Protection Scheme (TDPS) came into effect on the 6th April 2007

Purpose of TDPS

It was introduced to ensure good practice in deposit handling and safeguarding of deposits. It also assists with the resolution of disputes by the provision of an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) - an alternative to going to court, and for all landlords and tenants to have a clear understanding on the condition of the property through best practice.

Darwoods are members of The Dispute Service

The Dispute Service is the ARLA-backed Insurance based Tenancy Deposit Scheme. This scheme is easy to use and allows for the speediest resolution of a dispute. Landlords and tenants can be rest-assured that all Darwoods' assured shorthold tenancy deposits are held in strict accordance with the regulations of the Housing Act 2004. We prepare accurate, detailed inventories containing clear colour photographs which are agreed and signed by tenants at the beginning of the tenancy.
